Accepting Ourselves Despite Disappointment
Published on Jan 4, 2023We all want to feel accepted and loved for who we are, and it can be a hard pill to swallow when it doesn't happen. It's easy to feel like we're not enough, like we are never going to be able to do anything right, no matter how hard we try. It's easy to feel like our efforts and our energy are going nowhere, that we are stuck in a cycle of disappointment and failure.
But sometimes it takes a step back to realize that our memories and our feelings don't always paint an accurate picture of our lives. We may feel like we are in second place, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's true. Maybe we're not all that they thought, or maybe they are not such a hot rod. We may feel like we are pushing each other away, but maybe it's just a phase we have to go through.
It's easy to get stuck in the negative and feel like things will always stay the same, but that's rarely the case. We can choose to remember the positive, to remember that things can and do change. We can choose to take back all that we ever were, to choose to keep going and fighting for our own happiness. We can choose to be strong, to be our own decor, and to accept that sometimes, things don't always go the way we want them to.
